Melanie B.
Speech Pathologist
M.S. CCC-SLP
Melanie earned a BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a MS in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She was originally studying to be an occupational therapist, but changed majors sophomore year after shadowing a SLP in her hometown. The SLP she shadowed happened to be the SLP she saw when she was young and was the driving factor in her passion for early intervention.Â
Melanie recently moved to Oregon from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. She has been an SLP for nearly 7 years and primarily worked with the birth-three population while in Minnesota. Through working with a variety of teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, deaf/hard of hearing specialists, interpreters, daycare providers and, most importantly, parents, she has developed an appreciation for collaboration. Melanie enjoys helping children learn how to communicate and informing and empowering those involved in the child's life to support the goals of the child/family. Melanie is Hanen certified and has special interests in the areas of apraxia, stuttering and early language development.Â
When out of office, you can find Melanie camping, backpacking, hiking, drinking coffee, playing board games or planning her next trip. She also enjoys fostering dogs and helping them find their fur-ever homes.
