Counseling Services

At Sunbreak Therapy Services, our counseling services are designed to support both children and their families. We take a warm, collaborative approach that focuses on building connection, emotional regulation, and confidence through developmentally appropriate, evidence-based care.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

A proven approach for young children and their caregivers

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment that brings caregivers and children together in session. Therapists provide live coaching and support to help strengthen relationships and improve behavior in real time.

What to expect:

  • Phase 1: Strengthening the Relationship
Build connection, trust, and positive interactions between caregiver and child

  • Phase 2: Building Behavior Skills
Learn effective strategies to support cooperation, set limits, and manage challenging behaviors

PCIT helps caregivers feel confident and supported while creating meaningful, lasting change at home.

Social Skills Groups

Group Theraplay® Social Skills Group

Play-based learning. Real-world connection.

Group Theraplay® is a therapist-led social skills group where children learn through play, movement, and shared experiences with peers.

Rather than talking about social skills, children practice them in real time in a structured, supportive environment.

Children work on:

  • Cooperation and turn-taking

  • Emotional regulation

  • Flexibility in group settings

Who Is This Group For?

This group may be a good fit for children who:

  • Struggle with making or keeping friends

  • Have difficulty with turn-taking, sharing, or flexibility

  • Experience big emotions in social situations

  • Benefit from structured, play-based learning
